About the Program
Since 2001 we have been running an exclusive, private residential rehabilitation program which was developed to support our clients and their families in the best possible way. Working with our partner Twin Rivers, this tried and tested program delivers positive results over a 2-3 month period, emphasising the potential of all individuals to recover from the challenges of addiction and mental health disorders.
The program differs from many existing solutions as it recognises the addiction recovery journey does not simply stop after a period of residential care. Addiction recovery is ongoing and clients need the benefit of skilled and focused post-residential counselling. Our program delivers this exact combination and we can show significantly improved success rates when measured against residential "rehab-only" models.
Step 1.
Initial Assessment in the UK with one of LCA's experienced addiction therapists. During this assessment we consider the clients suitability for this intensive recovery program. The counsellor involved in this assessment continues to work with the client whilst they are overseas and subsequently will manage their longer term therapy needs upon return to the UK.
Step 2.
Clients will travel (or are escorted) to our stunning centre in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, where they are welcomed into the treatment program led by David Briskham, Medical Director of Twin Rivers and his experienced team.
Step 3.
At the end of the residential program, clients will return to the UK and continue a carefully designed aftercare program for a further 12 weeks with their dedicated UK Therapist.

What's in the program?
The Recovery Program is built on 4 key pillars.
The intensive 7 day/week schedule is a residential rehabilitation combining trauma release exercise, group and individual therapy, outdoor and gym exercise, lectures, spirituality, discussion groups and assignment work.
The program is driven by our client community whose needs can vary widely on a day to day basis. This affords us flexibility and spontaneity which are vital ingredients when working with clients suffering with addiction and mental health disorders.
What does a typical week look like?
- Trauma Group-CBT/Psychodynamic based group Identifying/understanding & management of acute-chronic & complex trauma leading to a successful addiction recovery journey
- P&Cs Group-Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy challenge’s denial and irrational thinking that perpetuate negative results on self and family
- CBT–Cognitive/Behaviour Therapy identifying & challenging repetitive & destructive thinking & behaviour patterns
- Review Group exploring client’s approach to recovery and identify aspects of personal development over the past week/month
- Spirituality Group psychoeducational/discussion group on understanding spirituality and the role this plays in the recovery process
- Co-dependency Group CBT/psychodynamic based group that explores and exposes realities surrounding codependency and relapse
- TRE-Trauma Release Exercise simple exercise techniques that help to release deeply held tension & accumulated stress
Typical costs
Our recovery program is based on the choice of a 2 (starting at £16,000) or 3 month (starting at £22,000) residential stay.
All prices include, initial assessment and 12 weeks of ongoing therapy upon return to the UK.
Flights are not included. We recommend booking with our preferred travel partner Dial-a-flight who can be reached here.
If you are travelling from the UK, we recommend flying to Cape Town and travelling on to George Airport on the Southern Cape. From there you will be met by our team and transferred to the centre in Plettenberg Bay.
All clients have an option to be met at Cape Town International Airport and driven directly to Twin Rivers
SOBER COMPANION
A 'Sober Companion' can be arranged, at an additional cost, to fly with the client to Cape Town or all the way to George Airport and on to Twin Rivers.
Why travel so far?
The underlying premise of any residential rehabilitation program is to remove the client from their toxic network.
In the UK, 32% of client's drop out of their recovery program every year - a primary reason for this is the ease of access back to familiar haunts.
Our overseas location significantly reduces this drop out. Twin Rivers stunning location, on the very southernmost tip of Africa, offers clients an unequalled opportunity to break the addiction cycle.
